The Keystone description above doesn’t quite match the facts. The AEF sustained about 320,000 casualties: 53,402 battle deaths, 63,114 noncombat deaths and 204,000 wounded. More than 25,000 men in the AEF died during the fall of 1918 in the influenza pandemic.
